Northern Irish football leagues

The Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) is the national football league of Northern Ireland. It was founded in 1890 as the Irish Football League, and is currently composed of three divisions: the NIFL Premiership, the NIFL Championship, and the NIFL Premier Intermediate League.

The NIFL Premiership is the top division in Northern Irish football, and is currently contested by 12 clubs. The current champions are Larne, who won their first title in 2022. The Premiership is a professional league, and clubs must meet certain criteria in order to be eligible to compete.

The NIFL Championship is the second division in Northern Irish football, and is currently contested by 12 clubs. The current champions are Glenavon, who won their third title in 2022. The Championship is a semi-professional league, and clubs must meet certain criteria in order to be eligible to compete.

The NIFL Premier Intermediate League is the third division in Northern Irish football, and is currently contested by 12 clubs. The current champions are Carrick Rangers, who won their third title in 2022. The Premier Intermediate League is an amateur league, and clubs do not need to meet any criteria in order to compete.

In addition to the three divisions of the NIFL, there are also a number of cup competitions in Northern Ireland. The most important cup competition is the Irish Cup, which is contested by all clubs in the NIFL and the Northern Amateur League. The other cup competitions are the NIFL League Cup, the BetMcLean Cup, and the County Antrim Shield.

Football is a very popular sport in Northern Ireland, and the NIFL is one of the most successful leagues in the British Isles. The league has produced a number of talented players over the years, including George Best, Davy Wilson, and Steven Davis.
