Boundary Park is a football stadium in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It is the home of Oldham Athletic A.F.C. and has a capacity of 13,513. The stadium is located at Boundary Park, Oldham, OL1 2PA.

Boundary Park was originally known as the Athletic Ground when it was opened in 1896 for Oldham’s first professional football club, Oldham County F.C.. When County folded in 1899, Pine Villa F.C. took over the ground and changed their name to Oldham Athletic.

The stadium has undergone a number of renovations over the years, most recently in 2015 when the new North Stand was opened. This stand, now known as the Joe Royle Stand after the club’s most successful manager, is the tallest and most modern stand at the stadium.

Boundary Park is anecdotally known as being the coldest ground in the Football League, earning the nickname coined by Joe Royle, Ice Station Zebra. It is also the second-highest stadium, at 526 feet (155m) above sea level, of any Premier League or Football League club after the Hawthorns, home of West Bromwich Albion, 552 feet (168m).

How to get to Boundary Park, Oldham Athletic football ground

By car

Boundary Park is located on Sheepfoot Lane in Oldham, OL1 2PA. From the M62, take junction 20 and follow the signs for Oldham. At the first roundabout, take the second exit onto the A627(M). At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto the A627(M) and continue for approximately 1 mile. Turn left at the traffic lights onto Westhulme Way and then left again onto Sheepfoot Lane. Boundary Park will be on your left-hand side.

By public transport

The nearest Metrolink station to Boundary Park is Westwood, which is approximately a 20-minute walk away. To get to Westwood from Manchester Victoria, take the Metrolink towards Oldham/Rochdale.

The nearest railway station to Boundary Park is Mills Hill, which is approximately a 40-minute walk away. To get to Mills Hill from Manchester Victoria, take the train towards Rochdale.

There are also a number of bus services that stop near Boundary Park. The 181, 402, and 794 buses all stop within a short walk of the stadium.

On foot

Boundary Park is approximately a 1-mile walk from Oldham town centre. To walk to the stadium from the town centre, head down Oldham Way and then turn left onto Westhulme Way. Continue along Westhulme Way and then turn left onto Sheepfoot Lane. Boundary Park will be on your left-hand side.

Parking

There is limited parking available at Boundary Park on matchdays. It is advisable to book parking in advance or to arrive early to avoid disappointment. There are also a number of car parks located within a short walk of the stadium, including the Tesco Superstore car park and the Sainsbury’s car park.
